Less space on a GNU/Linux console
Sometimes, I’m confronted with strange tech needs. Usually, people working with the console would demand higher resolutions and smaller characters for the console, leading to more screen estate.
Not me. I need bigger characters. Luckily, SVGATextMode can do both. I’m a special fan of the 40x12x8 mode, but as this HOWTO points out, you can go higher than the usual 80×25 screen if you absolutely have to.
